Lance Larson has been teaching for AVPGA since 2015. He offers lessons in acoustic and classical guitar, electric and bass guitar and ukulele. He accepts students from age 8 to 80. His studio is appointed with acoustic, bass and electric guitars, guitar pedals, bass and guitar amplifiers and ukulele. Lance offers in-studio lessons as well as online Zoom lessons. Lance is a MN native, and has performed professionally since 1969 with various local as well as a few touring nightclub bands traveling the greater Midwest . He has performed in rock, country, blues, rhythm and blues, swing, gypsy and jazz bands. Lance customizes his lessons to each student's age, level, musical goals, and preferred genres, while simultaneously ensuring the student is learning music theory (keys, chords, scales, arpeggios, etc.) technique, improvisation and rhythms. The goal is to make each lesson and assignment fun, enjoyable, and engaging for the student. Lance teaches guitar tab, chord frames, and standard musical notation. Each in-person lesson is 30 minutes, though Lance spends considerably more time outside the lessons for his students in creating learning materials, researching published arrangements, and designing individual lesson plans. He enjoys playing along with his students. I love seeing students become excited when they achieve their goals and play songs that they love. Some of my students have been with me for 6 years.
